Rela members just a bunch of ‘little Napoleans’

The Star

THE article “Ever Rela to help” (Sunday Star, June 10) on the interview with Rela director-general Datuk Zaidon Asmuni left me speechless.

It gave a good insight into how out of touch with reality the organisation is. Some of the answers given by the good DG were downright insulting.

His opinions on how all Caucasians are tourists and every other foreigner is a suspected illegal very accurately reflects the severity of his and the organisation's narrow mindedness and blatant stereotyping.

It was also “reassuring” to know that all the so-called good work done by Rela is by volunteers who receive no screening or training whatsoever.

And what is the prerequisite for being a volunteer? One has to be above 16 years old.

The icing on the cake is the final statement in the interview that Rela is doing a good job and that the whole world knows about Rela.

The truth of the matter is Rela consists of a group of “little napoleons” and glory hunters who think that they have a God-given power to do as they please.

The only reason the world knows about you Rela is because you are an embarrassment to Malaysia. Please disband immediately; we don’t need your services.

SH,
Kuala Lumpur.
