Ministry encouraging staff to carpool

PUTRAJAYA: The Natural Resources and Environment Ministry is getting its staff to do their bit for the environment by encouraging them to carpool.

The ministry has organised a lucky draw where attractive prizes will be available to those who sign up for the carpool programme.

“Many of the ministry’s employees already carpool to work daily. We figured that if there is some sort of contest, more will do so,” an official said.

The results could already be seen when more people signed up during a special World Environment Day assembly at the ministry here on Tuesday.

”We hold firm to the adage that awareness begins at home and, in this case, home is the ministry,” the official said.
