PUTRAJAYA, MON:

If you are a civil servant, you’d better have memorised the lyrics of “Cemerlang, Gemilang, Terbilang” (Excellence, Glory, Distinction), because the Prime Minister is watching you.

Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi observed that not all his staff in the Prime Minister’s Department were singing the song at the department’s monthly assembly today.

He expressed regret, saying that they should learn the lyrics as the words were inspirational and would motivate them to fulfill their duties.

“I notice that some are not singing this song. I thought many would have memorised it by now but it seems that many were not singing it.

“It is the song for our national mission, it speaks about facing the challenges ahead so that we can achieve excellence and glory for our country. It is a reminder to us to strive harder and it should also make us feel proud that we are living out the words of the song in being a successful nation,” Abdullah said at the beginning of his address to his staff.
