NUTP wants upgrade for senior teachers, too

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Union of the Teaching Profession (NUTP) wants the Education Ministry to look into upgrading the status of afternoon supervisors and senior assistants (co-curricular activities).

NUTP secretary-general Lok Yim Pheng said many afternoon supervisors and senior assistants (co-curricular activities) remained at the DG41 grade.

“We hope the ministry will look into this as Form Six teachers were recently upgraded to DG48 while afternoon supervisors and senior assistants (co-curricular activities) were not upgraded,” she said in a statement.

She said that although the NUTP welcomed the upgrading of Form Six teachers, it was worried as this had caused dissatisfaction among senior teachers.

“The roles and responsibilities of afternoon supervisors and senior assistants (co-curricular activities) are heavier compared to those teaching Form Six,” she said.
