IPOH: The government has been urged to pay civil servants their monthly salary by this week to ease their financial burden, especially with the upcoming Deepavali celebration.

Ipoh Barat MIC division vice-chairman S. Jayagobi said civil servants received their October salaries a week before Hari Raya, which meant a wait of almost two months for their November pay. Early salaries are usually paid only when a festival falls after the 15th of the month.
