10 sacked for various offences

The Star

ALOR STAR: Kedah has sacked 10 civil servants for various disciplinary problems over the last three years.

State secretary Datuk Wira Syed Unan Mashri Syed Abdullah said they were from various departments under the state’s jurisdiction.

He said they were among 18 people who were implicated in disciplinary cases between 2005 until now.

The action was part of the state’s effort to ensure an efficient administration, he said.

“We have also recorded 14 bribery cases which are being investigated by the Anti Corruption Agency,” he said.

Syed Unan said this in his speech during a dinner with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the state and federal department directors here on Sunday night.

Also present were the prime minister’s wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid and wife Datin Seri Noraini Abdullah.

He said the state had also wanted to have an efficient delivery system to help the development of the Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER) projects in Kedah.
