MCA Youth to promote civil service to non-Malays

The Star

KUALA LUMPUR: The MCA Youth will organise roadshows nationwide to encourage more non-Malays to join the civil service, said movement chief Datuk Liow Tiong Lai.

The movement hopes to increase the number of non-Malay government servants in five sectors – professional (engineers, lawyers, paramedics and doctors), education (lecturers and researchers), administrative and diplomatic officers, staff at local authorities and uniformed personnel.

High-ranking non-Malay government officers will be invited to give talks at the MCA Youth Government Service Career Roadshow, to be held in colleges, universities and new villages.

“It will allow the public to know more about the workings in the public service and the benefits offered to civil servants,” Liow told newsmen after chairing the MCA Youth committee meeting here yesterday.

He urged the public to attend the roadshows, saying that it provided an opportunity for interested parties to ask questions, such as on promotions and career advancement.
