Civil servants to know decision on Thursday

PUTRAJAYA: The country’s more than one million civil servants can expect a decision from the Government on Thursday on various issues ranging from the payment of a RM2,000 honorarium and the scrapping of the Efficiency Level Assessment (PTK) test for senior officers.

Cuepacs president Omar Osman said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi was expected to announce the decision at his meeting with them then.

“We received a letter from the Government informing us of the meeting. We hope to hear some good news on the various issues we have raised in our memorandum,” he told reporters after a two-hour meeting with the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Sidek Hassan here yesterday.

Omar said Cuepacs members would also be briefed about the PTK by the Public Service Department on Friday.

Asked if this meant that Cuepacs would not be boycotting the Workers Day event on May 3, Omar said the congress would be holding a meeting on Friday to discuss the issue.
