PENANG: Cuepacs is hoping that Budget 2008, to be announced on Sept 7, will be the best budget for civil servants.

Its president Omar Osman said that apart from a good bonus, they were hoping that the Government would approve their appeal to extend the retirement age from 56 to 58 or 60.

“We have already submitted the necessary documents of appeal. We are also in discussions with the Government on issues concerning retirees’ pension, the Voluntary Separation Scheme (VSS) and the Efficiency Level Assessment (PTK),” he said.

Omar also urged department heads to keep close relations with the unions so that they could discuss and work out problems faced by employees.

He was speaking at the biannual Peninsular Malaysia National Health Administrative Assistants Union’s Representative Conference 2007-2009 here yesterday.

The conference was held to elect new union representatives for the new 2007-2009 term.

The union’s president Hussian Wahab explained that the conference was also held to discuss the union’s future and issues like upgrading the pay scale.
