Maj-Gen Datuk Prof Mohamad Termidzi Junaidi has vast experience KUANTAN, Sat:

A former army officer created history when he was appointed head of the newly set-up Dentistry Kuliyyah (faculty) of the International Islamic University (IIU).

Major-General (R) Datuk Professor Mohamad Termidzi Junaidi, 54, was formerly the dentistry director at the Defence Ministry.

He joined IIU on July 10 last year after his retirement from the civil service.

Termidzi said he was persuaded by IIU Kuantan campus director Datuk Prof Dr Md Tahir Azhar to head the new faculty.

"I requested for some time to think about it," said Termidzi, who was initially reluctant to accept the appointment as he was not an academician.
However, he later agreed to the appointment and became the faculty’s first dean.

"I think my vast experience in administration will help me face this challenge," Termidzi said at the closing ceremony of the IIU Kuantan campus orientation week 2007/2008 yesterday.
