KUALA LUMPUR: The contract of Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan has been extended by another year.
In a statement, the Prime Minister’s Office said the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin had given his consent to extend Sidek’s contract from June 24 this year to June 23, 2010.
It said the decision to reappoint Sidek was based on national interest because his service as Chief Secretary was still needed, particularly in efforts to enhance the public service delivery.
Sidek was appointed Chief Secretary on Sept 3, 2003 until his retirement on June 23, 2007. He was then appointed on contract for two years until June 23 this year.
