Bigger bonus for Perak civil servants

The Star

IPOH: The Perak government has approved a one-month bonus for its civil servants, similar to what federal officers in the state will get, but the minimum payout will be higher than the RM1,000 under the national Budget.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin said: “We will give them a little bit more, maybe RM1,100 or RM1,200. We will decide on this soon.”

Speaking after chairing the state executive council meeting here yesterday, Nizar added that the extra would help the lower income group celebrate the coming Hari Raya.

“We also want to show our appreciation for the state civil service, and we hope that this will boost their work performance so that Perak can further excel,” he said.

Nizar said the bonuses would be given in a one-off payment before Hari Raya and would involve some RM16mil for the state’s more than 8,000 civil servants.

On a separate matter, Nizar said the state government had formed a committee to handle mining activities. If everything went as planned, the mining industry in Perak would resume by the year-end.
